Madeline Murphy Turner

Madeline Murphy Turner is a researcher, writer, and curator currently based in New York City. She specializes in contemporary art in Latin America, with a focus on the ecological and performative artistic practices of self-identifying women artists. A Ph.D. Candidate at the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, she will complete a dissertation on women’s collective artists’ books, mail art, and experimental theater in 1980s Mexico City in December 2022. From 2020–2022, Madeline is the Cisneros Institute Research Fellow at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, where she was also the 2019–20 Vilcek Curatorial Fellow. She has published texts in Burlington Contemporary, Art Margins Online, AWARE Magazine, post: notes on art in a global context, and in the 2020 Mercosul Biennial publication, Against the Canon: Art, Feminism(s) and Activisms, XVIII to XXI Centuries, among other publications.
